The event has been a great success since the very beginning. Among the highlights of the previous years were the Golden Pin Award as recognition for professional career and the Ribera del Duero wine prize for the best young fashion designer. Inspired by Ribera del Duero red wine’s beautiful colour, 10 finalists presented stunning outfits ranging from traditional Spanish dresses completed with mantilla and fan to modern transparencies. Local designer Angel Palazuelos never fails to put on a good show at Malaga Fashion Week. Once he teamed up with the Guzmán Garden Center and they offered an amazing catwalk of evening dresses topped with stunning real flower head pieces and decorated with real leaves and flowers. Spain is famous for romantic bridal gowns, and they literally flowed along the Marqués de Larios catwalk. Antonio Banderas presented his collection – Selected Homme. After Hugo Clavelina’s pompons and Emidio Tucci Black’s multi-coloured socks it could seem a little dull, but who doesn’t love Antonio? His models got the biggest applause of that evening.

This year the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the director of Pasarela Larios, María José González (who is also the director and organiser of ‘Marbella Fashion Week’ in Puerto Banus), has highlighted the link between Málaga and fashion and the great impact that Larios Pasarela has for the tourism sector in Malaga. The mayor informed that Málaga strengthens its link with fashion at FITUR 2018, the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, and announced the dates of the 8th edition of Larios Fashion Week - September 14 and 15, 2018.

González has anticipated that this year the Golden Pin Award (sponsored by distinguished establishment Bodega El Pimpi located in the XVIII century building, and according to "EL PAÍS" recently acquired by Banderas) will go to Málaga’s haute couture designer Javier Alcántara.

Among 20 designers taking part in the event are the famous Spanish names in the world of fashion. One of them is Rafael Urquízar. The clients of Drumelia have already seen his latest trends of 2019. He presented his glamourous and elegant collection at the fashion show during the ‘Signature Event’ at ‘La Perla Blanca’, one of the most majestic luxurious beachfront residences in Estepona.

Another captivating luxury brands presentation and magnificent fashion show of the latest collection of swimming suits and summer dressing by La Perla was shown to Marbella’s high-end society during ‘Marbella’s 1st Excellence Experience Event’ held at the impressive ultra-modern Villa Cristal’ set in La Zagaleta, called ‘the Jewel of Marbella’.
