

Russian Culture Week in Marbella 2016

To be imbued with the Russian culture while staying in sunny Marbella,
visit other great cities of the Costa del Sol and, of course, just have a great time —
it is possible by attending the Russian Culture Week,
which was held from September 28 to October 2, 2016.
Russian Culture Week has been organized annually since 2004.
It is a unique event aimed at supporting the Russian language and culture
in southern Spain, as well as attracting Russian tourists during the off-season.
Publishers and journalists from Russia, cultural figures,
representatives of the Russian diaspora and visitors from all over Europe
attend Russian Week.
Guests experience an unforgettable cultural program with performances
by well-known artists, sightseeing tours of the Costa del Sol,
and a magnificent gala dinner — “Baile de las Flores”.
The Russian Week Program
Every year, the organizers of this extraordinary event delight their audience
with a varied program.
The 2016 edition was rich with exciting and interesting activities.
Russian Week kicked off on Wednesday, September 28,
with a welcoming dinner after guests arrived at Malaga Airport
and were accommodated at the Los Monteros Hotel in Marbella.
On Thursday, September 29, guests traveled to Seville,
where they met students and professors of Seville University.
This was followed by lunch with university rectors and business representatives.
After lunch, participants enjoyed a sightseeing tour of Seville.
Upon returning to Marbella, a dinner was served to all guests.
Friday, September 30 was an intense and memorable day.
A gala dinner “Baile de las Flores” was held at the La Cabañe Restaurant
in the Los Monteros Hotel.
The evening began with champagne and appetizers,
overlooking the sea,
followed by gourmet cuisine and selected wines
prepared by the chef and sommelier.
During dinner, guests enjoyed a competition for the best floral dress.
The winner was chosen by a jury including special guests:
Tatyana Mikhalkova, Chairwoman of the “Russian Silhouette” Charity Fund,
and Polina Gagarina, singer, actress and Eurovision 2015 finalist.
After the contest, guests enjoyed performances by
Yaroslav Abaimov, soloist of the Moscow Theatre “Novaya Opera”,
soprano Claudia Sierra Cerezo,
and the musical group Klas Band.
On Saturday, October 1, guests attended a master class
and exhibition by Elena Lutsenko,
lead artist of the SHUT Theatre,
laureate of the Stanislavsky State Prize
and winner of the State Award for Achievements in Literature and Art.
The Voronezh Puppet Theatre presented “Kashtanka” by Anton Chekhov.
A special section of the exhibition featured works by talented children
participating in an art competition.
After the creative program, guests visited the city of Estepona.
On Sunday, October 2,
participants explored the natural surroundings of Benahavís
and visited Puerto Banús,
one of Marbella’s most famous landmarks.
On Monday, October 3,
guests of the Russian Week departed for Malaga Airport.
